Pleased to see Laura hitting those powerful angled shots she used to be noted for and very pleased to see them going inside the lines now after the problems of the last 12 months. Every time Laura gets some break points Naomi responds by crashing ace after ace after ace, its an interesting match between two attacking players with different strengths.

Not the prettiest set of tennis but the quality was good, and not sure many players could have broken either Naomi or Laura the way they played. Naomi started better but Laura was looking really good by the end of the set.

Impressive again from Laura to come out on top in a set when Naomi served well, particularly on break points, so she had to serve pretty well herself in relative terms and back it up.

I can now see why Laura won Landisville. The serves are back, the returns are pretty good and the ground shots are pretty consistent.

Having said that, this is the best I've seen Naomi play for a while - defensively a lot better and the serve is going.

Might go to three tie breaks.
