Whenever I see Bethanie Mattek-Sands play she always looks like a dangerous opponent but her ranking never reflects that. Maybe she is a player who performs well on the big stage and then is quietly ineffective for the rest of the year. Though she only has 7 wins in singles all year, I expect Jo will be given a tough match.
Heather continues to get lucky with Grand Slam draws and it's about time she took advantage, though I feel she might have a bit of a mental barrier regarding the US Open having still failed to get a win. A Grand Slam win would here would be big for Naomi too and would be a potential turning point for both Heather and Naomi.

WTA's draw analysis is of the opinion that Jo's match is one of the top 5 potential matches for an upset.
Ellen Perez? - these wildcards are getting stupid now
The USTA & Tennis Australia have a reciprocal arrangement where each Association gets one Main Draw WC in the others Grand Slam. Tennis Australia held an Australian Playoff, in Florida last week, to determine their recipient, which Ms. Perez won (James Duckworth won the men's WC) and that is how she got her WC.
I am strongly opposed to the arrangements in place between the other three Slams of this nature.

me too - there should be more merit for a main draw entry than just winning a few matches in a domestic competition - she shouldn't have got anything more than an entry into the qualifiers as ours did at Wimbledon - Australia doesn't have enough depth to justify maintaining such an arrangement

You know there is a way of ending debates / arguments about who gets Slam MD WCs apart from some thinking that it would be a good arrangement in itself
I know though that this way would not be liked by many.
