Dan holds after a long game, saving 3 bps, 2 dfs, challenges, lots of ues, some great shots, 2 serve + volley plays 4-4

Dan with 2 poor ues then a super smash for 30-30, W ue then a great v from E 5-5

Dan does well to recover to 40-40 then W with a careless f ue long for bp but Stan saves with a super first serve. It looks like Dan might get another bp from miss-hit lob but Stan's challenge shows it to be long *5-6

Amazing match this. Another epic game at 5-5, with Dan pegging Wawrinka back from 40-15 to BP, but Wawrinka eventually holds with some mega hitting.

Dan serving to stay in it again.

Can't help but feel that if Wawrinka takes this set he'll run away with the fifth. Dan looking very tired out there. But it's been a monumental effort.

Loses the tie-break 8-10, having had a match point and then failed to put away two overheads at 7-7. Utterly heartbreaking.

Noooooooooooooo :'( Had to watch the ridiculously slow live scores as I can't find a link. Have to feel Dan's moment has left - happy to be proven wrong! Either way, far better performance than I anticipated!

Dan went for a b dtl at 5-3 in the tiebreak, missed it, then df on the next point was his big chance gone. Had 2 chances to put away a smash at 7-7 before ultimately putting a f wide, but Wawrinka made a soft error on the next point before a 2nd serve ace then finally Dan's forehand went wide to cost him the set.

This is heartbreaking Dan deserves to win this he's played such a great match. Sadly Stan will run away now and already a break up. Not a fan of Wawrinka this match he has been very fortunate to escape this.

Dan has completely gone mentally now, to be expected really when you get so close... but yet so far! Pity, but he'll leave this tournament with his head held high!

Was always going to be bakery product this set. A huge shame, and bitterly disappointing given how close he came - and on another day, he would have won - but not to be. An absolutely fantastic effort from Dan and I hope he carries this form into the rest of the year.

He's done himself proud today, and all week.
