Just noted as well that in Kyle's section of the draw, Frances Tiafoe is a set and a break up on John Isner. Watch out oldtimers, the kids are coming.
Except that, in the end, Isner had just enough to overcome the "Big Jessie" in five (3-6 4-6 7-6(5) 6-2 7-6(3)).
Yes. Tiafoe actually served for the match at *5-4 in the 5th. But Isner came through at the death. Nice hug between the two after the match though. Tiafoe was distraught.
Anyone else see the 5 guys directly above Evo in the ranking all lost in the first round. Potential to move up a bit more should he win his next won :) up to 56 in the live rankings

Yes. Saw that. But 2 of the 3 players within one win of catching him (unless Evo wins again) have quite easy draws.
Edit
Just to expand that, 3 players could overtake Evo with one more win.
Youzhny who plays Pella
Marchenko who plays Dzumhur
Zeballos who plays Kyrgios
Of course if Dan can beat Zverev, that's a different matter.

ah i didnt look into it any further than that! got a bit excited when i saw how close he potentially is to the top 50. What an achievement that would be!
The bookies go about 77:23 in favour of Kyle, but I'm with Bob, I think it's closer than that, as the young American with the home support behind him is a very dangerous opponent even if Andrew Castle doesn't think so !!!
Quote from Dan in today's Times in respect of his impending encounter with Zverev:
He can take the racket out of my hand if his serve is working. It's going to be good fun to go out there and hopefully get a good court.
Anything is a bonus now. I'm ready to go home. It's been a long seven weeks on the road over here in the United States and this is now the last push on the trip. I look forward to it.
That "I'm ready to go home" remark sounds a bit ominous. I hope it doesn't mean that he's going to roll over for the German.
Hopefully the "last push" bit counteracts any negative sentiment. It's no secret Evo is a homeboy and if I'd been away from my missus for seven weeks on the bounce I'd be ready to go home too!
The new level of professionalism that Evo's showed over the last 18 months give me no doubts that he'll be trying 110% against Zverez, plus journalists quotes can quite often be taken out of context.
