Tsivadze is the guy who beat Jonny last week, although that was by retirement.

Yes.  He is playing this week, but will then take some time off to get it sorted - hopefully.

I wouldn't have thought you help sort it by playing a tournament and more likely the reverse. However, clearly I don't really understand the nature of the problem.

Therein lies the problem.  I don't think anyone understands the nature of the problem, least of all Jonny himself.  He had hoped that the change of rackets was going to resolve the issue but that wasn't it.  I guess that some days it is worse than others.  He withdrew from singles last week but still managed to play doubles.  It must just be a case of trying to manage the problem (and the pain) as best he can.  Real shame though, as having won his previous tournament in Portugal he was building up some momentum.

Has Jonny seen a specialist tennis coach ? Often it's a question of slightly tweaking the technique - tennis is such a repetitive movement sport, and at high force, that it's easy to get recurrent pain if your stroke is just slightly off, without realising it.

Add: well done, Josh P
