Elbaba was endearingly pugnacious in each of the last two rounds, she's not turned up at all today, which is a shame, she's better than this.
Breaking news from Ken though: Laura won Wimbledon mixed doubles with Andy Murray's brother!
Though felt sorry for Elbaba in that last game when Laura ( as is her norm this week ) ran down a ball and produced a great controlled pass down the line evoking a scream from poor Elbaba.
Also time they introduced penalty points for caught ball tosses, especially when done four and then five times in a row. But not much else to complain about
Especially like what was described as guiding the ball into open spaces, which is what it so often was, great to see as against blasting it long or wide of open spaces.
Well done, Laura !

Fantastic!! Who'd have thought it just a week ago??
What will this do for Laura's ranking?
With Laura and Eleanor both looking like they are working their way back (though at rather different levels at the moment) 2017 could be an exciting year. I'm sure Freya, Katie and co will also have benefitted from Laura's presence and experience this week which can only be a positive.
Fantastic to see Laura winning a trophy - wasn't much of a match today because Laura got on top of her inexperienced opponent early but a perfect end to her singles week (and ends a run of singles/doubles finals defeats that is too many to count).
Amazing the amount of confidence Laura has gained over 5 days and she looks in complete control of everything in her game except the ball toss (annoying as a fan - if it was an opponent it would be infuriating. However, if rules allow it, better that than Ivanovic style hitting wherever the toss ends up).
It was an often quoted fact that the only senior title Laura had ever won was a $10k aged 14, so she puts that to bed and achieved something she didn't pre-injury.
Instead we can now focus on positive Laura stats, like how in singles and doubles she is on an unbroken run of 23 consecutive games won - I think the Belgians will put an end to that at some point though.
Breaking news from Ken though: Laura won Wimbledon mixed doubles with Andy Murray's brother!
Which elicited a correction from a 'Steven'.
Hmm. wonder who that might be?
*blush* - if only Bouncy gave us the chance to do the same at Wimbledon, eh
Seriously though, great to see what Laura has managed to do this week I wonder if she really has turned the corner now.
Funnily enough, she beat Tara in the semis on the way to her last singles title nearly 8 years ago too, though if poor Tara hadn't gone down with heatstroke this week, maybe she'd have won the title and Laura would still be looking for that turning point. Having said that, even Laura's R1 win was encouraging by recent standards, so maybe something had clicked before this week even started.
