Good first set, not all top quality, but something almost better, as it's often been lacking with Laura, it was match tough, good professional work. Didn't let herself get down, and closed well.
I watched parts of Sramkova's other matches, she's basically been bullying people of court all week, and Laura's done well to blunt that. 6-3
He's building on the theme of the week, which has very much been the umpires NOT getting involved; not over-ruling many calls that looked clearly out - often indicated as such by both players on court! - as the standard of line calling has been poor all week. One point in the Tara/Laura match had the comment, Tara: She knows it's out, don't you. Laura: I thought so.
That's the context.

PS Brilliant to see Laura playing just SO much better than she has been recently.
As many people have been saying on this forum, the benefits of stringing a few matches together (nigh on impossible in top level WTA events) cannot be underestimated.
Laura wasn't lucky to win her first match, as such, but could so easily have lost it.
But the fact she didn't, and then hung in on a hard day with Tara, gave a great chance for Laura to really get into her tennis.

Yes, I've been following it.
But I think he sounds like a broken record.
And it's obvious that without a full contingent of line judges there will be wrong calls.
Or ones that people might think are wrong.
I think he's been ultra quick to decide the line was called wrongly - several have seemed fine by me when you play it back and freeze it.
And some have seemed wrong. But that's all he goes on about.
NB It would help if his pronunciation of foreign names wasn't so goddam awful - it can't be hard to look up how to pronounce some of the names - they're tennis players, it is his job, after all.
Serving for it...

*15-0 Laura very upset about a call, which she claims out, and claims she left because it was so far out. Ken agrees with Laura.

Needs to work really hard right now to not wander mentally due to that call.
