Took his time getting his arse back in gear after his customary wobble! Mind you, Foggy did help a bit from about half-way through the decider, thank God! Six games in a row to Andy!
L16: (2) Andy Murray WR 2 defeated Fabio Fognini (ITA) WR 40 by 6-1 2-6 6-3
******
QF: (12) Steve Johnson (USA) WR 22 (CH = 21 last month) vs (2) Andy Murray WR 2
Andy won the only match they've played so far, in the last 32 of the Shanghai Masters (hard) last year (2 & 4).
Yes, the court is surely much slower than Andy would like. However, he still has a great overall chance. And next up Steve Johnson I wouldn't have thought would much like it.
Andy is so good at reacting to events happening at pace. You could have a cuppa sometimes whilst the ball grips on court ready for your next shot. But he can still grind things with this field.

It's less Steve Johnson that I'd worry about than the potential semi-finalists and finalists (though Steve Johnson is also to be taken seriously - I'm making no assumptions that anyone will reach any given round).
Andy & Heather replace the Romanians, Monica Niculescu & Florin Mergea, in the mixed draw:
L16: (ALT) Andy Murray & Heather Watson CR 68 (2+66 - I assume singles rankings used in both cases) vs Carla Suárez & David Ferrer (ESP) CR 24 (12+12 if singles rankings used, 40 [12+28] is singles + doubles]
It's less Steve Johnson that I'd worry about than the potential semi-finalists and finalists (though Steve Johnson is also to be taken seriously - I'm making no assumptions that anyone will reach any given round).
With good reason: JMdP & Nadal are still going strong in the top half, though the latter has to face the Brazilian, Thomaz Bellucci, in the QF & he's been tearing up a few trees on his way there (he beat Dustin Brown in the first round, then Pablo Cuevas (11) & David Goffin (8)). In the bottom half, it will be Monfils (6) or "Nish" (4) for Andy, so, assuming he beats Johnson, he'll have to play a lot better than he did today.
Yes, that top half is brutal. And the QF between Monfils and Nishikori should be a good one, too. As with London 2012, it's a tournament where one really does have a sense, as at a Grand Slam, of the best of the best coming through.
Nadal and DelPo are nowhere near their best though. On a quicker court I'd fancy Andy every day of the week. Nishikori will be the toughest match, if they both win their next rounds.
So Jamie is a "way more experienced doubles player" than Andy, is he (interesting that he didn't say better...)? I know that comparisons can be invidious, but...
