Well, I didn't expect them to go all the way, but, given the match-up, I didn't expect that score in the 1st round either. Ouch. On the other hand, there have been some even more peculiar results: John Millman scored a double bagel over Berankis. Berankis isn't in great form, and Millman is in better form, but even so ...
Bad news for me is that Filmon have blocked the transmission of BBC1 for the duration of the Olympics due to broadcasting restrictions. So I have no way of watching anything.
Now this comment on the BBC live feed has really annoyed me because when I went online to look for tickets a couple of weeks back, it was saying that there were none available.
It's toasty on court eight, temperatures rising, bodies sweltering. Kyle Edmund handling the heat well, though, comfortably winning the first set against Jordan Thompson in under 40 minutes. That forehand of his hotter than the Rio sun.
There aren't many here to watch the pair, about 30 in total, which includes coaches, volunteers and, well, me.
Lack of a guaranteed ticket was one of the reasons I decided not to pursue the idea of travelling down from North East Brazil to Rio.
L64: Kyle Edmund WR 83 defeated Jordan Thompson (AUS) WR 92 by 4 & 2
Taro Daniel up a set and 4-2 on Jack Sock to play Kyle next. Doesnt Daniel have a Brazilian background, perhaps hometown support helping him against the seed in that section.
There are various odd results (not counting Mr Edmund's among them!) turning up. Didn't expect Daniel over Sock. And now Jaziri is one set up on Tsonga?
