Week 32 - Olympic Tennis Competition - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - Hard

Unbelievable match. What a win. What a champion.

I believe so thejester. More history from Murray. Tennis history this time though, not just British history.

Very well put TMH. Yes, this might be the achievement that, at the end of Andy's career, bridges the gap between himself and his illustrious peers in terms of slams.

I am speechless. Is there nothing Andy can't do ? That guy is just Superhuman.

What a day for Andy and for GB sport in general with 5 golds in 1 day.

Andy did just about enough despite being miles below his best. Felt sorry for JMDP who left everything on the court but never looked like he could win a long contest. Great to see JMDP back playing at this level after all his wrist problems.

The sheer resolve and competitiveness of Andy and achievement in winning another Olympic title for me far trancends any doubts about quality at times.

Superb

And what an effort from Del Potro. If he had won that in the end ( though I did assure folk that he wouldn't ) then would just be absolute respect. The tennis players have certainly showed this matters from Djokovic through to Del Potro and Murray.

No staying power me :(
Went to bed with Andy leading 2 sets to 1...brilliant to find this morning Andy "only" took a total of 4 hours 2 minutes to down Del Potro to clinch his second gold medal; heroic stuff :D :D

What a game!
Both deserved gold for their out an out grit..
Andy's intelligence on court won through eventually with Delpo exhausted.

Thanks, I've just watched BBC2's highlights and they didn't have it on there either.

The complete match is the top programme on iPlayer.  The medal ceremony begins after four hours & 35 minutes. wink

A 2nd DC title would be good too.
