Fine effort, and no disgrace against quality specialists. Shame they couldn't quite press home.
R2: Johanna KONTA/Heather WATSON (GBR) 176 lost to Hao Ching CHAN/Yung-Jan CHAN (TPE) [3] 12 6-3 0-6 4-6
At least the Japanese pair are keeping Kuznetsova out on court, into a third set, and hopefully up a bit late, so she won't be too massively advantaged by her singles walkover today before the match up with Johanna.
Jo and Jamie the mixed pair. Hev and Andy don't make the cut.
Originally felt sorry for Hev but decided not to. She had every opportunity to make this field but her ranking isnt good enough. She's played a half hearted doubles schedule over the past 12 months, ridiculous given how strong she is, and blown countless singles matches. She needed to be around 40-45 in either discipline but is nowhere near, and that was easily achievable.
Finally on court after Donskoy completed a spirited comeback against the Energiser bunny. Which means Russia has already had great success on this court today, and so don't need any more. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/olympics/36664494
