Yay good stuff. Katherine Grainger would have been a fine choice with her Olympic story, but not arguing about Andy!

I think the other option was Nicola Adams, but I'm very happy that Andy's the right man for the job.

A great honour - nice that Andy's been recognised in this way!

Kath is competing the next morning so wouldn't be an option.

I seem to remember at the last Olympics any tennis players that were flag bearers they didn't schedule the next day.

This video of the flag bearer at the group photo is rather delightfully funny - especially the expressions on the faces of those around him (with good reason - the top of that flag looks pretty lethal): t.co/0JFVXE1cSI

Everyone survived.

Andy drawn Troicki in Round One; in Doubles he and Jamie have Bellucci and Sa , whilst Fleming and Inglot play two Mexicans followed my Mergea and Tecau possibly. Kyle has got Jordan Thompson followed possibly by Jack Sock and then Djoko in Last 16 if he gets that far.

If Mr Edmund gets that far? Or Mr Djokovic? What horrid luck for someone who normally is shakiest in the early rounds to get Juan-Martin del Potro in the 1st. (And equally, what horrid luck for the defending bronze medallist to get the person he beat for the bronze medal - and world no 1 - in the first)

Good point - Djoko v Del Potro is horrid for both. Andy seems to have a pretty reasonable draw from what i can see, singles certainly although doubles looks like it has a few gremlins
