R1: Freya Christie & Laura Robson CR 664 (311+353) vs (1) Ksenia Lykina & Elise Mertens (RUS/BEL) CR 248 (166+82)
R1: Tara Moore & Lisa Whybourn CR 633 (168+465) vs Yuliya Beygelzimer & Elizaveta Ianchuk (UKR/UKR) CR 1558 (1274+284)
- 32yo Beygelzimer has spent most of her career very much higher ranked with a CH 56 in 2006.
Just had a quick look at Simmonds form, and it is not bad, certainly comfortably better than that displayed by Laura in Lexington. I saw her in Eilat, nothing special at that stage ( Hev played rubbish in that match and still won relatively comfortably) , but playing a bit better now, was a decent junior, may have had a few injuries along the way, and played with Freya earlier this year in doubles.
I think 2 through would be par, anymore a Brucie bonus.

It would be nice to see Freya have a bit of a run here, she doesn't appear to have had the best of luck since a nice run in the Far East due to niggling injuries. Danielle Lao at 5'3" fits the stereotypical very mobile buzzin back and forth, lob it back type player that I think frustrates Freya at the moment, lets hope Freya can swat her quickly and get plenty of matches under her belt this week.
