No messing from Dan ...

R2: (Q) Dan Dowson WR 942 beat (WC) Shota Meparidze (GEO) UNR 6-2 6-0

QF: (Q) Dan Dowson WR 942 vs (7) Thomas Fancutt (AUS) WR 680* (at CH)

*Yes, a higher ranking than the #1 seed that Dan saw off in R1.

#1 seed fell last week from WR 680 to WR 724
#7 seed rose last week from WR 865 to WR 680 as a result of the points from a recent China 10K title being added.

Edit:  Sorry, Indy.  Just had to amend your spelling of "Fancutt". wink

Another very good result from Dan. Should do his ranking some good too, now we are into the serious SF points - at least.

Brilliant - from a set down and a break down in the 3rd So he has now upset both the top seed and the highest-ranked player in the tournament

Incredibly, there will be three qualifiers & only one seed in tomorrow's semis - & Dan's got him! hmm

This weeks efforts will already take Dan up over 100 places to around the 830 mark and will see him enter the Top 25 table, where we will lose Dan Smethurst for what is probably (and sadly) the last time.

Yes, up from 942 (GB 26) now to around 830 (GB 23 on Monday week), taking out his old career high by about 50 places

Edit: I see Bob had already answered his own question At least we both agree on the numbers, that's always reassuring! biggrin

A lucky loser ranked 1669 has won one of the QFs in the bottom half of the draw and a lucky loser ranked 2155 (junior 494) is a breadstick up in the other one!
