Where's this stupid bloody expression "net, net" coming from & what's it supposed to mean? Every time I see it, I'm put in mind of a cartoon rodent snuffling "net, net"...
LOL. Coup has been using it for 3 years and the first time Indie uses it you jump on him.
Lordy, SMC, if you can remember what I said three years ago (THREE!!!), that's truly awesome/terrifying!
R1: (Q) Dan Dowson WR 942 vs (1) Nicolas Alberto Arreche (ARG) WR 724
Not ideal, of course, but not that high a ranked top seed and Dan would never have been in qualifying if he had entered normally, indeed he would have been close to having been seeded in the main draw. Net, net just a bit over 200 difference in rankings.
Spot on, Indy - pertinent point and good call:
R1: (Q) Dan Dowson WR 942 def. (1) Nicolas Alberto Arreche (ARG) WR 724 6-3 6-2
I find myself sympathising with SC here, I must admit, but it's worth getting irritated by that phrase again for the laugh I got when I followed Indiana's urban dictionary link
I'm sure we all have pet phrases that irritate the hell out of other people without us realising it though!
Getting back on-topic, I'm not sure I've ever seen a no. 1 seed ranked that low in a 10K before (680 at the seeding date, 724 now), even at the 'East African safari' Futures, though I haven't checked that so no doubt I'm wrong.
