Week 31 - WTA International ($227K) - Florianopolis, Brazil Hard

Yes i loved that post.

Em is playing singles and doubles today, but sadly on the non-streamed court which is a bit frustrating!

Yup, Poots withdraws overnight so she has a good chance of making the main draw one way or another.

What a story that I have come to appreciate could have come from few but Em.

As the last few words of an inspiring read went and to anyone sitting on their sofa thinking well that was an easy 12 points : "You make your own luck" !!!

Certainly not always but often ...

Result seems about right all things considered, not big surprise either way although her first serve percentage tailed away badly and combined with the injury break i hope she's not pickrd up a niggle which could hamper her doubles later.

I think WTA events do lucky losers by ranking? If that's in then Zaruaza squeezing out a win 64 in the third would have ensured Em gets in regardless. In which case her prize money will double.

Yes, they do lucky losers by ranking, but as it for 4 places, it will be drawn from the top 5 players according to the rankings from the week prior to the start of the tournament. So place not guaranteed .............

I got that from the WTA rulebook, buried within the 468 pages ! But it isn't particularly clear.

Zarazua's win guaranteed that the losers of the other 5 FQR's get in to the LL draw as the WC who lost is the lowest ranked of those who got to the FQR. 4/5 chance of getting in is pretty good.

Remember Em you make your own luck so try bribery ( no, I didn't say that, trust the odds are with you ).

Do hope no significant injury issue. She was rejoicing recently in being injury free for the first time in a very long time, and since then she seems to have certainly shown better form in the singles front.
