Interesting re the comments about Laura practicing "a lot better" for I read similar on the forum not that long ago.
Now, its probably not at all unusual to look better in practice, but I do wonder if there is a real issue with Laura. I suspect that she has a lot more in her than she is often producing on the match court. Maybe more positivity from the off would help, because I am sure that we've also heard the "flat" comment before or at least similar.
Deja vu for Laura in R2, playing the twin of her R1 opponent.
Even with the number of siblings on the tour, you can't very often get the opportunity to play twins in successive rounds of an event.
Not the first time it has happened to Laura though. She played the Pliskovas in the AO junior semi final and final. Hopefully that hasn't set a precedent as she lost to the second one back then.
Em survived a mammoth 9th game in the first set to just hold on (having cruised through her first 4 service games), and other than a double fault on her first match point cruised through.
She's been losing to players worse than the Lithuanian this year (who was a top junior, and got a fairly credible ranking before going off to college at the University of Kentucky), and for the first time in a long time her served looked (based on the stats) to be solid, after months of having a torrid time trying to defend it.
Laura seems to be intent on making life difficult for herself. Started very well and thought we were in line for an easy one but struggled badly to serve it out and been finding it difficult since then.
