The bookies had 3 of ours as odds on, so to not have any through is not great. So we'll have 2 LL's and given that Laura has been on the court for 6 hours the last 2 days(exhausted), and Freya really struggled(maybe still carrying a niggle), it may be best for Katy and Em to bag them, as both acquitted themselves well in defeat.
By making such a mess of yesterday's match Laura made her job much harder today especially as it turned into another long match. I'm not sure she would gain much from a LL spot either, might be best to regroup and get ready for the $25k next week where she should be seeded.
If anyone deserves the LL spot most it's Katy for getting so close today.

In the first set Laura looked in a comfortable position up 4-1 but when Bai broke back it seemed to be a struggle
Yesterdays long match can't have helped but I don't think Bai will do anything in the main draw
So we basically all agree that Katy is most deserving, after that anyone's guess. I wonder whether the 4 Brits will get together and decide which 2 are the best equipped to go forward, so that only 2 names are put forward for the draw.
For info, if they lose in R1 they will just get their 3 FQR points.
If they win at least one MD round ( and clearly at least one will ) they won't add any points from qualifying ie a LL going out in R2 gets 8 points as against a 'proper' qualifier who would get 13 (8+5).
But hey still having 3 in and one guaranteed into R2 is a bit of a result in the circumstances of today's proceedings.
