Brilliant. Well done, Jonny. And mum and dad. And Bob who was suffering too ..... and also young Julian who's had a great week out of nowhere.

Jonny wins his first Futures singles title and some old guy is spotted jumping around his Brazilian apartment, punching the air with delight.

Get in there Jonny. So happy for you right now.

Yes, congrats to mum & dad too

Jonny should jump about 70 places on Monday week into the 530s, by the looks of it, with no points to defend until October, which will hopefully mean some extended celebrations for Bob in the next few weeks

Two responses to that comment.

1) The thought of the imminent Top 500 never crossed my mind.

2) I am a terrible liar wink

Absolutely thrilled for Jonny. He has had so many setbacks and disappointments in his career but at long last things really seem to be moving in a positive direction for him.

In his only previous final, Jonny lost a 3rd set breaker to Lloyd in April. I find myself looking at where Lloyd is playing now and where he is in the rankings, and thinking that there is no reason Jonny can't do exactly the same.

Still buzzing for him.

We ought to remember his elder brother Chris too: "absolutely buzzing! Go Jonny - watching live scores on tentahooks, raising blood pressure every point!!"

Great win for Jonny consolation for not getting a Wimbledon QWC which he should have received on his grass court season. I  reckon will be way inside top 250 this time next year if injury free he believes in himself

That would time nicely for the US Open 2017 qualifying list. Quite a prediction, be great if it happened. That's 18 points for starters

Well done Jonny !!!

I think you're way too optimistic, scottie, but unbridled enthusiasm and optimism is an appealing trait !

Jonny lost in R2 the week before so I don't think you can use this week's win as the new 'basis'.

And I think the comparison to Lloyd is not particularly relevant (I think college kids come out with a real 'apprenticeship' under their belts that make them ready to hit the ground running, if they're going to).

But Jonny's young, and with a lot of lost time due to injuries etc., to make up for. And he really has made mega strides, getting his act together, and seemingly getting traveling and all that sorted out now. It's been a great few months for him. Long may it continue ! And top 250 would just be brilliant, of course

Absolutely fantastic to see Jonny win his first title. Really looking forward to seeing what he can achieve if he can stay fit for a sustained period of time.
