This is going to be an interesting Friday. I only hope that they are on second so I can watch it.
I've no clue what is going on in Andy's head at the moment (He said he wasn't tired last night, and seemed remarkably OK with losing). I only hope that he gets it sorted out for DC, and that the DC environment will give his the spark he needs for the rest of the season.
The Argentina ranking of of their 4 named players will be Delbonis, Pella, Del Potro, Mayer.
So assuming Del Potro and either Delbonis or Pella playing singles on day one, and Andy playing too, then that certainly leads to an Andy vs JMDP clash.
Can't quite believe both Delpo and Andy lost last night... Perhaps a bit of mental as well as physical fatigue for both after a very similar last few weeks.
Wimbledon & Olympic Champions must lose a tiny bit of hunger, trying to get up for yet another major tournament. I can only think it's mental fatigue that has made the difference here for Andy. A few days rest and a refocus will put him back on the rails I'm sure.
Would be a risk for them to expect Delpo to play all three wouldn't it? I wonder if they'll rest him in either first singles or the dubs.
As for our side, I guess we're assuming Andy will still play, especially if he's saying tiredness not an issue in US Open. What about Evo? Has anyone heard if he is expected to be fit?

I can't see Argentina resting Del Potro from playing Andy. He's their best chance of taking Andy out. And GB must be strong favourites for any other singles match match-up Andy has and probably favourites for the doubles as well.

Agreed, Argentina will know Delpo v Andy is their strongest game against Andy. If they can't beat Andy in this rubber, they will need to tire him out thoroughly in a five set epic to give Argentina the best chance against the Murray's on day2.
What a match we have in prospect now.... Really tight and well balanced opening rubbers on day1.
I'm slightly in the Edmund camp I have to say for day1, following on from his heroics in Serbia and the USO.
Nice little article in the Daily Record today from David McCarthy where Andy suggests he needs a few days rest and that the DC is exhausting both mentally a physically over 3days. Sounds like he's gearing himself up for 3days play. He mentions the special Glasgow atmosphere and that all the GB players are playing really well. He concedes that he needs rest over the next few days, sounds like a later in the week arrival to training to me and I'm not surprised.
In the Croatia v France tie, it looks like Tsonga has withdrawn and Gasquet is replacing him, this is on the DC site twitter feed.
With Gasquet and Monfils v Cilic and Coric, that evens things up a little with the tie being in Croatia and must be a 50/50 call now overall. For once I am firmly supporting Croatia for this one, hoping we get a home DC final if all goes well!

Coric was reported as fit by their captain and selected last week. He had a knee problem which forced him out of the USO but its not thought to be an issue for DC. They have initially picked the same team that played the yanks in the QF's.
France v Croatia will be close I agree and difficult to call. Monfils can be unpredictable. Against the US, the Croatian's were 2 nil down and yet pulled it off in the end showing great team spirit. Tsonga being out is a real blow for the French and I don't know what happened to Pouille...? Is he unfit, I thought they named him in the team initially but when I looked at the DC site just now Tsonga, Monfils and the 2 dubs players are still showing...
It could well be Croatia who are 2 nil up on day1 this time.. I think I'd back Cilic to win both his singles and he could play dubs again as he did against the US.

Agreed, v close and not sure what happened to Pouille. Sporting Life also reporting Tsonga replaced by Gasquet, maybe Noah felt it wiser to go with experience? http://www.sportinglife.com/tennis/news/article/553/10573826/jo-wilfried-tsonga-to-miss-davis-cup-sf-due-to-injury
