Agreed - fancy a 3-0 looking at this, if Andy wins first up , Kyle will be confident and we can go from there. On basis that we can win Andy's Sunday singles, we need at least 1 point Day one, should be do able.

That said, at Indian Wells this year , Pella beat Kyle, which must be part of the thinking of the Argentinian skipper

7Mar2016 Indian Wells Masters Hard R128 82 40 Guido Pella [ARG] d. Edmund 6-7(3) 6-4 7-5

Quite possibly they are looking at match ups - ie Pella will be replaced by Delbonis on Sunday as he has the H2H edge of Andy...

Kyles match by no means a guarentee, that said if Kyle brings his A game he should be looking pretty. Hasnt Evo beaten Pella a few times?

If the head-to-head was what informed their logic, I'd question it. The match could go either way, but I would not use a match involving Mr Edmund from six months ago as evidence of how he will do today. His improvement this year makes older results an unreliable guide.

Interesting though I assume the Argentinians didn't know Kyle was going to be GB #2

I was certainly expecting to see Delbonis on Friday.

This will be Kyle's first experience of a home DC tie as well. I am sure he will be inspired by the crowd. Got to feel a bit for Evo, but as I said previously, neither player would have been a bad choice. So little to choose between them.

And if things don't go all our way, what odds on Evo beating an exhausted DelPo in 5 sets in the 5th and deciding rubber ? It's not out of the question.

The vote as of now from the forum stands Kyle 15 Evo 13.

Whatever he said, I am sure Leon was waiting to see how that played out

As I called it, well it was such a close call sort of 51-49 as Greg would say, but with Kyle's superior firepower against their number 2, it seems a decent call. As I said before if Delpo had been their number 1 which he really should be, I would have switched it around, all things being equal.

Assuming we don't lose both singles on day 1 and Andy isn't injured we will be very strong favourites.

Sad news in advance of the tie. Jamie and Andy's Grandfather, Gordon, has passed away. Horrible news for the family. I am so glad that he at least got to see so many of his grandson's triumphs.

RIP Gordon.

That is sad news - and very rough for the brothers. All condolences to them and their family.

That is sad news. Quite naturally, the brothers thoughts will be elsewhere tomorrow and Saturday, our thought and prayers will be with the family

Especially tough for Andy who won't be able to attend the funeral and will be fighting it out on the court against Delpo.

Also wonder whether this may have been (one doesn't know the circumstances) something that was on his mind at the USO.

Very sad news about Andy's grandfather.

On a lighter note, the BBC seem to have an interesting davis cup line up today!
