Agreed - fancy a 3-0 looking at this, if Andy wins first up , Kyle will be confident and we can go from there. On basis that we can win Andy's Sunday singles, we need at least 1 point Day one, should be do able.
If the head-to-head was what informed their logic, I'd question it. The match could go either way, but I would not use a match involving Mr Edmund from six months ago as evidence of how he will do today. His improvement this year makes older results an unreliable guide.
This will be Kyle's first experience of a home DC tie as well. I am sure he will be inspired by the crowd. Got to feel a bit for Evo, but as I said previously, neither player would have been a bad choice. So little to choose between them.
And if things don't go all our way, what odds on Evo beating an exhausted DelPo in 5 sets in the 5th and deciding rubber ? It's not out of the question.
As I called it, well it was such a close call sort of 51-49 as Greg would say, but with Kyle's superior firepower against their number 2, it seems a decent call. As I said before if Delpo had been their number 1 which he really should be, I would have switched it around, all things being equal.
Sad news in advance of the tie. Jamie and Andy's Grandfather, Gordon, has passed away. Horrible news for the family. I am so glad that he at least got to see so many of his grandson's triumphs.
