Didn't Alex Ward beat Falla in South America last year ?

He beat him on grass in Manchester, I was there! (Yours may be true as well).

No, they've met only the once, in the first round of the Manchester Challenger earlier in the summer, a match which Alex won by 6-7(5) 6-2 6-4. wink

It was Estella Burgos I was thinking about. Alex beat him in Colombia last November. I just remembered him beating a very high ranked clay court specialist.

the Wimbledon knock on affect starts here.....nice results....so happy to see Dan back. Have been a big fan for many years

It will be interesting to see if there is such an effect, after such a great Wimbledon for the Brits across draws. Great win for Cox, and I'll be keeping my eye out for any trends.

Coxy has a chance to serve for the first set at 5-4, then again at 6-3 and 7-6 in the tie break but chokes on all three occasions to loose the tie break 9-7!

Dan loses the third set 6-4. A brave effort but another match i'm sure he'll think he could have won.

I'm guessing it's Weintraub who gets in on the LL spot?

He is the highest ranked player to lose in the final round of qualies and Pospisil has withdrew.

Wow indeed. True, Lipsky finished Wimbledon on Friday night*, so the timing for him wasn't great. But that's a cracking win, no matter how you look at it.

*Indeed, had Ms Watson and Mr Kontinent not beaten him, presumably he wouldn't have been in Newport at all.

Sadly,

QF:  Brydan Klein & Yuichi Sugita (JPN) CR 1149 (185+964) vs Jonny Marray & Adil Shamasdin CR 158 (73+85)

That said, I don't have to think twice about where my loyalties lie... wink
