Week 28 - ATP 250 - Hall of Fame Open, Newport, RI (grass)

On the assumption that no other Brits are going to turn up here in the singles.  If they do, I'll amend the subject line accordingly:

R1:  (1) Eric Butorac & Scott Lipsky (USA/USA) CR 83 (43+40) vs Brydan Klein & Yuichi Sugita (JPN) CR 1149 (185+964)
R1:  Jonny Marray & Adil Shamasdin CR 158 (73+85) vs (WC) Austin Krajicek & Gerardo López (USA/MEX) CR 1539 (94+1445)

R1:  (WC) Alex Lawson & Mackenzie McDonald (USA/USA) UNR (0+740) vs (3) Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski CR 156 (77+79)

Brydan & Dan Cox are both on the qualifying entry list, Dan tweeted he was off to Newport so they will both be playing.

Dan is playing well on grass. And it's definitely not the favoured surface of his opponent. Might be a good gamble.

It is arguably a good bet due to Falla's poor recent form but while grass is not his favourite surface he is actually pretty good on it.

In 2012 he reached the third round of Wimbledon beating Isner in R1 and Mahut in R2 and in 2014 he reached the final of Halle beating Kohlschrieber in the SF and then pushing Federer to two tie breaks in the final.

Very good win from Dan. That earns him 6 ranking points already and a nice little pay packet. Hopefully there will be more to come on both counts.

He beat him on grass in Manchester, I was there! (Yours may be true as well).
