Andy has been elected to the ATP player council, and has already had quite a bit to say about the earnings of players on the Challengers and Futures tours.
He has also recently taken a fairly hardline stance on Sharapova's drug problems, gone out off his way to deny the LTA have much bragging rights over the Davis Cup triumph, and been a consistent champion of gender equality.
As I personally agree with him on all of the above, I'm really looking forward to his ongoing contributions over the next thirty years or so...
This thread then, for further links and discussions...

with a bit of luck this thread will last 4 decades.
His views appear are well rounded, under pinned by deep insight into and an obvious passion for the game at every level, respect for athletes and coaches of both genders an understanding of the (his own weaknesses under) pressures elite athletes at all levels of the game face.
He has a tremendous amount to give to the game and indeed given the way he has mentored Kyle and worked with James Ward and Dan it appears his natural inclination to do so. He has no obligation, my suggestion is we give up with player development and just clone him. The expertease is there (in the Scottish republic) re Dolly the sheep, God rest her soul.
Certainly I continue to be hugely impressed with the interest and encouragement he gives for British players at all levels and indeed practical help for some and it is clearly very much appreciated.
And his interest in tennis as a whole, beyond the rarified heights, and willingness to express what he thinks to me make him a very good and logical choice for the ATP Player Council.
I rather doubt he will always be "diplomatic" ( and I was a bit ooo err when I just saw the title ), but that I see, if selective when he goes against the calm settled midsets, as a good thing. Sometimes things do need shaken up a bit.

Would Wimbledont agree to rename the thread "Andy on ATP player council" rather than imply that he's going into politics or the diplomatic service.
