L64: Henri Kontinen (FIN) & Heather Watson CR 154 (35+119) "defeated" Denis Kudla & Louisa Chirico (USA/USA) CR 871 (431+440) by a walkover

L32: Henri Kontinen (FIN) & Heather Watson CR 154 (35+119) vs (2) Bruno Soares & Elena Vesnina (BRA/RUS) CR 16 (9+7)
And now Heather and Henri get a walkover into R3 presumably as a result of Bruno and Jamie having been on court so long in the men's double quarter final.

... allied to Vesnina's possible schedule with her already in the singles SF and doubles QF.
Soares and Vesnina had a bye into R2. I thought we had alts on standby ??

Somebody might have signed in as an alt this morning but then not bothered hanging around all day.

That would surely have been very daft - take that initiative and then not wait around for an obvious possibility following Soares and Vesnina's respective doubles matches. Their mixed was the one to wait for ( I believe just one of two pairs who hadn't competed at all or already had a w/o - the other pair being Stepanek & Safarova who did finally play their mixed today ).
So I take it that noone was signed in as alts with Vesnina having had potentially to play 11 matches in the last 5 days and partnering Soares.
So Heather and Henri benefit again from evidently noone particularly bothered about potential gifts.

L16: Henri Kontinen (FIN) & Heather Watson CR 154 (35+119) defeated (16) Leander Paes & Martina Hingis (IND/SUI) CR 56 (55+1) by 3-6 6-3 6-2
That was a lovely match to watch on Court 1 (I saw the second half of the second set & all of the third). Not bad for a scratch pairing, although it seems that Chris Eaton (remember him?) is Henri's coach.

QF: Scott Lipsky & Alla Kudryavtseva (USA/RUS) CR 62 (38+24) vs Henri Kontinen (FIN) & Heather Watson CR 154 (35+119)
Lipsky & "Kudry" despatched the fifth seeds, Zimonjic & Chan, in their third-round match...
Does he realise that if he makes the final here, the full imbecility of the British press will be devoted to demanding that he makes a decent woman of her? (Though Jamie seems to have got away without any pressure to announce his civil partnership with Bruno, so far.)
