L64:  Nicholas Monroe & Gabriela Dabrowski (USA/CAN) CR 97 (53+44) defeated (WC) Liam Broady & Naomi Broady CR 472 (383+89) by 4 & 2

The US/Canadian combo went on to beat the fourth seeds to reach the third round!

Marcus said he is first alternate for the mixed and has signed in today, which is odd as they ran out of pairs which is why Hev and Kontinen got a w/o in round 1. Maybe didn't sign in that day.

No idea who his partner is.

Unbelievable! biggrin It took them a few squandered break points, but Neal & Anna finally recovered an early break against the top seeds as the latter were serving for the match at 5-3 in the third.

Wow - they have ousted the top seeds. Go Neal and Anna.

PS Ken was on radio 5 this morning as well discussing Andy Murray.

Brilliant! Really thrilled for them. I've never seen any World Team Tennis, but my recollection is that it involves mixed doubles ... and that Neal Skupski was the best newcomer last year. And Anna Smith is good, too. But even so, beating Dodig and Mirza is quite something.

Well, going into the second Wednesday, Stepanek & Safarova and Soares & Vesnina have yet to strike a ball in the mixed doubles ( and Vesnina is still in everything* with a doubles L16 match scheduled first on Wedneday ). These two pairs are seeded byes into R2. Soares & Vesnina's scheduled opponents Watson & Kontinen also have yet to play but no doubt do count as into the tournmant, having got that w/o from R1. 

* If Vesnina were to reach all 3 finals she has 11 matches to play in the final 5 days.

Oh yes it does to the tune of about £6k, nice work if you can get it (day rate) will definitely help keep them both on the road
