Thought Dan played some good stuff at times but Federer was much better than he has been recently. The major thing that undid him was that his serve just didn't click, not a single ace, very few service winners and not that many easy first ground strokes. It meant that he had to work hard for almost every point and against a player as good as Federer that pressure was always going to tell.
Fed was seriously impressive tonight, but Evo matched him in the 1st set after a tough start playing unbelievable stuff as well, was hoping for Evo to sustain it for sets 2 and 3, but it wasn't to be.
Wimbledon coverage is kind of annoying. Only one way to play back the matches if it's not on the BBC 1 or 2 which would be on Iplayer.
I've worked you can watch the matches back if before you go out if open the stream up for a particular court, press play then pause it. The stream is strangely then still there to watch. Do that for every court and your covered if you go out for the evening and want to re-watch an interesting match.
They could make it easier for us and do a catch up service like they did for the Olympics.
The El Mundo article strikes a chord in its description of Marcus as an amateur, and as mentioned there are parallels with Evo.
Very talented amateurs fortunate enough to be in a sport where technique is so fundamental and expensive to acquire that the level of competition in Britain is such that their aren't others there to snatch away your opportunities. Both, because of their wonderful technique honed as children, have been a pleasure to watch on centre court; their technique, particularly Dans, stood comparison with the best of the best.
The LTA must take some credit for this, they had a very limited talent pool. You pick your horses to a certain extent and take them to the water. Some bolt(OG) and others, it takes a while before they take a sip, hopefully when the waters good and they have tasted it they keep drinking.
Both have finally become professional and hopefully injury permitting will continue to be so, a great Wimbledon but this is it. No excuses, the next 4-5 years is their time. Dan, made a great point, it was not a day out for him and his family, it was a day at work in the spotlight where he had an opportunity to show what he can do against the best. Back to a carefully selected (by them) itinerary for both, hopefully Marcus will be able to exploit the situation fiscally, get a coach and build his rank around the tournaments on fast courts at Challenger level. Dans Challenger trip to the Far East was well advised and with Hilts he looks to be settled and well placed to make the most of this opportunity.
I for one love qualifying and the first week of Wimbledon as the staple diet of the British tennis fan. We are very fortunate to have a large chunk of caviar on the side in Andy, but from a Colombo tan raincoat/ trainspotter as opposed to groupie type of British tennis fan perspective I get great joy from the inaccuracies of the current mainstream reporting and am already revving up for Frinton and the US futures summer swing with the US College shameteurs completely sabotaging the draw and for once one of the biggest bandits wil be ours (Cam).
So far to date this must be one of the best 12 months in British tennis and who know if Lendel can work a bit of his psychological vodoo on Musser by the end of the summer it could be best ever.

Especially if a certain Sam Querrey can find a little bit more of that magic himself, today.
Can't see anything other than a Djokovic comeback today unfortunately. If you were trying to choose a player to choke and crumble at a big opportunity, Sam Querrey would be pretty high up on that list.
So much hype from the BBC - as though the result was certain. Ridiculous.
I'm sure Novak will come out and win 3 sets (though would love to be wrong!).
