Indeed, Murray and Soares are about to start the equivalent of a 7th set: 13-12 on serve in the fifth.

And suspended for the night at 13 all in the 5th. That was quite a last game ... many deuces and ads.

Play suspended after 4 hours & 51 minutes in the match between Jamie/Bruno & Pavic/Venus at 13-13 in the final set.  The 16th seeds just refused to lie down.  Can't help feeling that Jamie & Bruno will be the first to blink when play resumes.  Hope I'm wrong, of course!

So pessimistic  confuse

Jamie and Bruno are the guys with the experience  Of course it could be anyone's.

I am aware that I have mentioned once or twice my preference for final set TBs at 6-6 just like every other set. I like symmetry.

But the biggest issue at Wimbledon is the really long final sets that get quite silly and have ongoing negative consequences for the winners though probably more a singles issue.

Final set TBs at 12-12 anyone ?

( not related to the particular score in this match at the day's conclusion, I have just thought generally that 12-12, sort of the double normal maximum, may be when other folk are like me and really begin to think "gee ... " )

I always thought 10-10, but your logic for 12-12 is better.  Your post sums the situation up perfectly.  These truncated final sets are boring and i am sick to the back teeth of them, i just stop watching.  The Isner Mahut match was a travesty and served no purpose for either player. Tradition isn't always a good thing. Wake up Wimbledon.

I've long been a fan of the 12-12 suggestion

I like 5 sets play to the death, it's Grand slam tennis, no quarter given, no easy way out, an epic test in every way last man or woman standing after two weeks pockets 2 million, I want my money's worth. Some fabulous extended 5 and 3 setters so far.

Well it's Wimbledon's unique version of Grand Slam tennis.

Various Twitterati have been advocating for 12-12 and then a tie break. I'm all for tradition, but I'd tend to agree.

I suggest a compromise: tiebreak at 50-50.

I couldn't agree more. Grand Slams are the pinnacle of the sport, winning them is supposed to be difficult.
