Oh man.

That was an awful performance. Staggeringly bad. When she composed herself and attacked she was dominant and hitting so well, but then she kept retreating into herself and couldn't hit the ball. Her footwork was non-existent, her forehand leaking errors, her body language so negative, and she was so passive on those match points then completely crumbled. Yes Beck stepped up, but she could because Hev was pat patting the ball around waiting for Beck to miss. She did the hard work to get to 0-40 by being aggressive then totally backed off.

What a waste of a superb draw. She simply didn't believe she could win, which I think is an indicator of where she is at with her game right now - no confidence.

Some soul searching to be done after that. Hugely disappointing. On the plus side she doesn't have all that much to defend over the rest of the year so has the potential for a great autumn.
