While Thursday was in theory top half R2 day, they have still 8 R1 matches to get done and have also prioritised the bottom half R2, which should already have been done and dusted.

Though of the 11 top half R2 matches that could have been played today ( i.e. both players were through ) they have got 8 on the schedule. Tara vs Kuznetsova is one of the three not scheduled, though so is Serena vs McHale.

11 shot rally Hev tries her BH DTL, and catches the tape 0-15*, nice point good rally all court Beck DS draws Hev in and then passes 0-30*, Hev can't return a 63mph 2nd serve 0-40*, HW returns DTL into the corner for return winner 15-40*

The ominous words "Jeremy bates has joined the crowd for the end of this match", followed by a long game. Heather survived for a while with big serves but is broken eventually. Can Beck find a way to be positive or will we see some more 60mph serves?

Long final point ended when Heather tried a drop shot and out it to the top of the net, Beck's defence was reminiscent of Heather circa 2012.

As incentive, Sasnovich looks like putting Kiki Mlad out (up a set and *4-0) and so would be the R2 opponent.

Beck has now shown herself to be completely incapable of closing this out on multiple occasions, so I'm pretty confident Heather will close this out pretty soon.
