Week 25 - Wimbledon Women's Qualifying

Maia goes down. It all seemed to change with that break early in the second set, and she lost her foothold from then on. But a valiant effort against a former Wimbledon 4th rounder.

[WC] Lisa Whybourn GBR 7-6[2] *2-2 Claire Feuerstein FRA

Those players really need to behave going forward or my recent doubts re suggestions of maybe 10 in the top 300 by year end might be looking rather dodgy

Great stuff !

I've not doubted the women are coming, just maybe quicker than I was counting on

I wasn't there today - and won't be there tomorrow, sadly - but here's a brief report of Lisa's match:

Katie Dunne lost 1-6 in the third set.

Harriet broken after a long game at 4-2 but breaks immediately for *5-3. Quick hold sees her win 7-6(2) 6-3

Freya in a first set tiebreak. Down 3-6. Recovered to 6-6. Saves another set point at 6-7 before ultimately taking the set 9-7

Some fantastic wins today - shame about Katy and Maia - but they were all tough matches.
Just waiting on Freya .............
