But god has she played well. Great shame but she can take a lot of conference from her performances this week, tactically astute, gritty, making the most of her talents.
What a great week for Harriet - back to back career best scalps then going so close to qualifying. Of course, she'll be incredibly disappointed to lose the final qualifying match after going so close, but she has nothing to reproach herself for. I was there for the last set and a half and was very, very impressed with her composure throughout - it was probably the most important match of her life so far but she never showed any sign of nerves.
After that, neither player's serve looked in much danger for a while. The Russian tried to step things up at around 8-8 but nearly got burned. I think Harriet might have (understandably) shown slight signs of tiredness near the end but she didn't do much wrong. What happened was that Alexandrova tried to step things up again - taking the ball earlier, hitting it harder, etc, and this time the risky tactic worked - the balls went in and she broke.
I'm very hopeful for Harriet though, she's a good little player and mentally, seems to be right where she needs to be.
A couple of the Gosling coaches spotted me at the station and we had an interesting conversation on the train about all kinds of things - I was quite sad that I had to get off at Clapham Junction! They said Harriet was very disappointed after the match, simply because she's so competitive (you'd be more worried if she wasn't at all disappointed, obviously!) but they pretty much agreed with my assessment of what had happened (i.e. that the Russian took a risk and won it rather than Harriet losing it)

But still time for another one to come up, I guess....
But good to hear the really positive report
Add: Just realised that Harriet couldn't have got the LL spot anyway:
Wimbly Official Blog
"The eagle-eyed among you will have noticed that a Lucky Loser will reach the Ladies' Singles main draw - and could face defending champion Serena Williams in the first round. That player will be one of the four highest-ranked players to have lost in the final round of qualifying, drawn at random after the completion of the draw. The four players in question are: No.3 Kai-Lin Zhang of China, Sweden's No.13 seed Rebecca Peterson, Ying-Ying Duan, China's No.16 seed and Russia's Irina Khromacheva."
LL spot rules get me every time.....

Yes and I love that she's not all down in the dumps about just missing out and being melancholy about it, she knows how amazing she played on the day to stick with it right to the end, couldn't have fought harder, and is excited about having been in that position. Wasn't a case of blowing opportunities or getting tight at all.
