Okay I really have had it with it the people running British tennis.

So I was planning to go Nottingham tomorrow/later today (Tuesday). Having checked out the process of buying tickets well in advance I noted that that if you buy tickets on the day you pay an extra £5. I didn't buy tickets well in advance as my plans were fluid and I wanted an up to date weather forecast. So I attempt purchase tickets through the website at 23:10 Monday evening only to discover that none are available for Tuesday, I checked again at around 23:30 and again at around 23:45 and both times there were no tickets available. Then I checked at just a few minutes past midnight and what do you know, tickets available for Tuesday at the higher price.

I honestly don't know if I will bother now, I will decide in the morning. It isn't that I am too cheap to pay the extra fiver but I bloody well hate been ripped off by these thieving swines.

I was hoping for it to rain all day today so I could see today's matches tomorrow. Would have expected at least one of Brydan, James or Alex to win there.

Being cheap and getting a ground pass tomorrow as don't think it's worth getting a ticket just for one extra court. And they've put the best match of the day (Dolgo v Kyle) on an outside court, so bouns!!

If you you purchase tickets in advance you have to pay an "admin fee" anyway so it's probably less than a fiver between the costs.

Think the comments towards Wardy are very harsh here myself. He's never been one to show emotion.

Granted his performance from Where he was today was terrible mind.

But the sppon fed comments are noir to do with him.

He has over achieved in his career, unfortunately it is doing him no good now. A few years ago when he was no 2 everybody only had good words to say about him. He completes a lot of charity work and made the top 100z

Despite his troubles now I think people on this thread have short memories and should show a little more respect.

I agree, I can't imagine James wanted to choke from a winning position but that's what a complete lack of confidence and a run of bad results can cause...the sheer desperation to cross the line means the brain just stops dealing with the immediate task in hand properly.  I didn't see the match and it can't have made pretty viewing but rather than wanting to pour vitriol on James it makes me sad to see a decent hardworking bloke coming to the end of his career in this manner.  And I also think the spoon fed comments are a tad inaccurate.  James has had WCs over the years, generally by being our no 2 on ranking and, in the case of Wimby, by fulfilling any criteria set out for receiving them.  He has had precious little other help compared to other Brits over the years whose achievements have been lower and whose sense of entitlement has been greater.

Form is temporary, class permanent. James Ward has been class throughout his career, from a JCH of >1000, to top 100 in the world last year is a phenomenal achievement (and only last year!) he has repaid the LTA multiple times when you equate his talent level to achievements. He hasn't emerged from a tennis family or come from a background of immense privilege to comment on a poor performance is fine but the rest sorry not worthy of this board given the problems he has had over the last 12 months. Personally 30k in wildcards gives a recent top one hundred player the opportunity to get back there is entirely appropriate.

Dan wins in the 3rd set TB. Although at one point in the third Liam had 3 break points which were also 3 match points I think it was 15-40 and it looked like Evo hit it long but wasn't called. Would have been the match but alas evo lived again and got the win.

Spoke to a few people about this while at Wimbledon Qualies yesterday and the general consensus seems to be that the ball was out.

Liam was just about the only person I didn't ask although knowing Liam, he wouldn't have minded the question.  At least I can report that he still seemed in good spirits yesterday.   He told me that as England were going to win the Euros anyway, I had no need to rush home to watch the football and I should stay until the end of the day to watch some more tennis.

I don't begrudge him the singles wild card, although I think the doubles one is a farce. My anger on that front is the double standards between some how some players are treated so well while others get nothing.

I do however standby my criticism of his performance yesterday and for most of this year. Almost every time I have watched him play this year he has been devoid of energy or intensity. He gives every impression of a player just going through the motions.

Yes, you are being ripped off, don't go.  Email a complaint though so they no this policy is costing them money.  They actually made a financial loss on this event last year, with policies like this you can see why.

Unless things have changed in the last few days, it's Alex Ward and not Jim who has the doubles WC.

Both Wards have a doubles wild card.  I am not sure but I dont think James was in the original list (?) but he certainly is now.
