Naomi not looking comfortable even though the weather is much more what you would expect for Stockport than Puig's home of Puerto Rico. Not much fun for anyone to be fair.
Naomi 1-6 0-2, Naomi doesn't have the game to cope with the conditions at all, whereas Puig is coping very well.

I think I've seen just about every professional match of Heather's that it's been possible to see, and that was about the worst I've seen her play. No idea why, could be any number of things, but she was poor and lacklustre today in all departments.
The much vaunted grass season, when the specialist Brits come to play and take advantage of players unfamiliar with the surface... can we please be done with this notion now, and actively discourage our players from focusing on grass? No, of course not. That wouldn't be British, no, would it?
Well given they're not really grass specialists or generally particularly more familiar with the surface we don't have any need to discourage our players from focussing on grass. They don't really as it is.

The less said about yesterday's matches the better - and judging by the number of posts on Heather and Naomi's matches that is a view shared by everyone!
The weather is set fair for today and JoKo is 4th on Centre, followed by Heather/Naomi doubles. Jo's opponent will be the winner of Zhang & Tsurenko who play this morning.
This is probably heresy because a lot of spectators no doubt enjoy the Eastbourne tournaments hugely but I'm not convinced it's the best location for getting tuned up for Wimbledon. It's frequently very windy and must play havoc with the players' timing, swing planes and so forth. Getting knocked out in R1 may be a blessing in disguise so here's hoping Heather and Naomi can find their best for the big one next week instead :)
Tara's was the easily the best effort of the 3 yesterday and hopefully she'll get at least one MD win at SW19 :)
Fingers crossed Jo, more used than most to Eastbourne conditions presumably, can re-discover the inspiration from last year's tournament which really lit the fuse on her rise up the rankings :)
It's a difficult one as you wouldn't want to move the tournament as it is currently one of the best supported WTA only tournaments in the world, with good attendances throughout the week and even for qualifying. Moving it a week earlier would mean clashing with Queen's and so would probably mean losing the BBC coverage so also not a good option. Yesterday's weather was unusual even for Eastbourne.
