Week 25 - WTA Premier ($712K) - Eastbourne, UK Grass

Needs to regroup quickly. Don't think she won another point in the set after that horrible miss on the 5th set point. Broken to love then Makarova holds to love for 5-7.

Yes, Tara lost 8 straight points after that; pity as that would have been a great chance for a best ever win :(

That miss was a throwback to her Zvonereva choke at Wimbledon. Ouch. Otherwise its been good tennis.

The wind seems to come and go. Several great points followed by a series of ugly misses as the ball isn't where the player expected it to be. Difficult to judge the quality of the match.

Glad to see Tara has made a decent fist of set 2; last chance saloon now though to get the break

Very good effort against a good grass courter but boy was that frustrating too!

Try to take the positives and looking nice for next week. She's playing well no doubt. Half decent draw and she can do some damage.

Yeah, great effort; pity she couldn't take her chance in set 1 but hopefully she'll be ready to cross the line next week :)

Well done Tara  - a bit fustrating, but it shows how far she's come when we're bemoaning the fact that she hasn't knocked over WR 37 smile

Watson down one set 2-6 and a break down 3-1 second set.... Anyone watching this match? What happened to Heather?

I've just found the stream and remembered why I mute any match involving Vesnina.
Come on Heather!

I think I've seen just about every professional match of Heather's that it's been possible to see, and that was about the worst I've seen her play.
No idea why, could be any number of things, but she was poor and lacklustre today in all departments.

The much vaunted grass season, when the specialist Brits come to play and take advantage of players unfamiliar with the surface... can we please be done with this notion now, and actively discourage our players from focusing on grass? No, of course not. That wouldn't be British, no, would it?
