Wakey, rules are rules. They are there to protect the innocent as well as find the guilty.
You can't just ignore them because you want to find her guilty.
If the authorities thought it should be one a year, then so be it. But they think it's three and so it's three.
Of course one can criticise the rules (as with the cocaine taking one). But the guy comes to your intercom, buzzes it, it doesn't work, and he walks away and chalks up 'unavailable' - doesn't seem like an automatic drug cheating offence to me
The only thing Id say about Dan in prequals is that here wont really be anybody in there that he is hindering. All the top juniors already have been fortunate with the QWCs given out so wont be there. Only really Ed Corrie and Marcus in there that would have a chance in making it. The rest of the prequals will be made up of ITF players. But thats the only alternate positive thing I can think of.
Giving QWCs to top juniors is great but I was surprised they chose 17 year olds in preference to the likes of Ryan Storrie and Finn Bass who are only recently out of juniors and have improved their ATP rankings this year. It is players like this who may well suffer if they come up against Dan. We all love Marcus but he hasn't done anything to suggest he'll be in any way competitive in this event. Such a shame he never got to build that magical Wimbledon success.
Fair enough, Dan can roll up his sleeves and get on with the qualifying play-offs. I would not blame him when in 6 months time the powers that be come to him cap in hand to play Davis Cup if he told them to shove it somewhere uncomfortable as a matter of principle. Pompous, out of touch d*******s!

On current rankings, assuming they are fit and wish to enter, the playoffs should have (in ranking order):-
Evans, Corrie, Farquharson, Klein, Glasspool, J Gray, Bambridge, Harris, Willis and Pauffley + 6 wildcards. There's a few candidates for the last six places
So much that can be said re the Dan decision and much has been said here and very well said.
Dan, you were an idiot, and you know that. Your official ITF punishment for a non cheating, non PED offence expired in April. There are others around the AELTC that are idiots, not sure they have such self awareness.
But with all the TBC ones left Dan will get one? If not, that is pretty brutal.
BBC reporting says - All England Club sources say the decision was based on a matter of "principle". https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/44546730.
So they unless they change their "principles" in the next few days they can't award Dan one of the remaining WCs (MDWC or QWC) - the exception would be if he loses in play-off final as losing finalists have often also been given a QWC, but then would have to give the other losing finalist a QWC as well.
At the moment they have no wriggle room anyway for a play-off final loser or anyone else getting a Q WC. They have rather unusually awarded 7 of the 9 Q WCs already ( and while I am not displeased they have gone for youngsters in a vacuum of strong candidates the extent surprises me with one or two looking very premature ). So unless they upgrade an existing Q WC to a MD WC ...
Well, he's not getting a QWC - there are none left to give (bar the play-offs)
Surely the MD one is coming ????
THe committee have really gone for the youngsters in the Q wildcards.
Aidan and George I expected, but didn't think they'd also go for Jack and Anton. (Maybe internal pressure for Jack and therefore Anton had to have one too?)
Mind you, they've got a point - none of the older ones really stepped up and made a claim for a wildcard and many were given the chance (i.e. Lloyd, Ed etc) by having wildcards in the lead events.
shows the dearth of men's tennis in UK that four juniors get QWC for Wimbledon. Don't get me wrong you look at the rankings and these are he future we have loads of also rans like Corrie Glasspool Gray who have had their turn. However Not to give Dan Evans a WC of any kind proves what a snobby bunch of knobs run Wimbledon

The play-off WCs will be interesting. The norm is for them to go to our best up and coming juniors but this year the leading ones have been jumped up to Q WCs.
One will go to the British tour leader and I think Jonny Gray's unneeded one for winning the North Oxford British tour event goes to the next in line in ranking, leaving 4 discretionary play-off WCs.
Yes - will Harry Wendelken get one? Jake Fearnley? Seem quite likely. And other youngsters?
Maybe Oli Golding or Josh Goodall or Dan Cox (if they've put themselves forward) if this were a normal country.
Presume that Jack F-H or Luke Johnson would be high on the list (if they don't make it in as of right). Wonder if Jack Molloy has come back and will get one. Other college guys?
And maybe Isaac Stoute (if he wants to).
I left out Oli Golding, as he hasn't been seen for a while, but he would get in ahead of Marcus.
The next in line are Luke Johnson, Richard Gabb, Finn Bass, Jack F-H, Evan Hoyt, Ryan Peniston, Isaac Stoute and Julian Cash.
But I would expect the juniors to be given a chance.
Will Dan even play in the ply offs? I read somewhere he may decide Wimbledon isn't the be all amd end all, so might play Eastbourne, Re group and hit the USA. We will see shortly

To be honest that makes sense, if he does well at Eastbourne will give the LTA and Wimbledon egg on their faces.

Not a bad philosophy if true Jon - so many of us particularly casual fans, consciously or sub-consciously perhaps tend to see Wimbledon as the be all and end all. I for one never though his career was over as such and would have a chance of making the top 100 again if he stayed healthy and committed himself.
