They were happy to use Sharapova last year to make extra money so apparently Henmen and co's principles go out of the window when they can profit from it. And there are plenty of actual proven cheats playing, if they really had principles these actual cheats like Cilic would never be allowed to step foot inside Wimbledon's grounds
It is a shame we never found out whether they were going to give MS a main draw wildcard last year, we could really run wild with the AELTC's hypocrisy here if they had done
Sharapovas offence was performance enhancing, Dan's wasn't

So perhaps if Dan had long blond hair and a modelling contract, they may have come to a different decision. I could understand (although not agree) if they had just denied Dan an MD WC, but not to even give him a QWC is an utter disgrace and a clear case of double standards after their decision over Sharapova last year.
Draw will be out tonight. There is a fact sheet on the LTA site - I can't access it from my tablet, but will look out for more info when I get home. Takes place at Wimbkedon, behind closed doors, Thursday and Friday

Here is the link to the factsheet. Sign-in closes at 6pm tonight. Once the draws are announced they can have their own threads.
Does anyone know how many convicted drugs cheats and technicality cases as opposed to what Dan was caught doing are playing this years tournaments? And the match fixing cases. There must be a few in there.

Jaffa tweeting me to say that Sharapova got into qualies last year on ranking (before withdrawing anyway) and not on a WC. Didn't realise that.
Yeah but that was actually her decision, she took the MD WC decision out of Wimbledons hands by saying she didnt want one. I suspect if she hadn't she would have got a main draw wc seeing as Wimbledon decided that She was such a draw that they could charge to watch the qualies

You may be right, but unfortunately that is just supposition on our part. We will never know the truth but it may be that the AELTC tipped her the wink that they were not going to offer her a WC and so she took her decision not to ask for one on that basis to avoid causing a controversy. The FO refused her a WC although this was heavily criticised by the WTA who said that she "should not be punished further". The same argument certainly works for Evo.
Wakey, perhaps, perhaps not, we'll never know. So we can't really use that against them.
Also, it's not really fair to list people like Cornet as cheats - she failed to be available to provide a specimen but the person responsible for contacting her (the last time) was found to be clearly at fault. That's not a technicality, that's not guilty. If you go down the 'no smoke without fire' path, you'll have everyone being guilty until proven innocent, in all walks of life.

Those are the ones I can see on either entry list. Melon will be on the doubles one as well.
No doubt there are more I have missed
With the best will in the world, one can't stop players qualifying on ranking and then playing.
This is wildcards we're talking about.
Still wrong re Evo though.
I'm not sure thats true. Tournaments do ban players so if they were being really principled they could ban them (infact wasnt Tarango and maybe even Henmans initially life bans?).
And some of those players listed were caught taking PED's. Also Errani and Cornet are going to have the points and money taken off them once all the legal situation is sorted out so them taking a place is taking the piss.

Drugs testers shouldnt have to go around chasing people, thats not their job. Sports people have one job when it comes to drugs testing and thats providing 1 hour every day where you will be in a chosen location. Missing 1 in 12 months Is understandable 3 though either shows she is dumb and deserves a ban or she is intentionally missing it because she is doping (her saying she hasnt ever failed one means nothing, doping done smartly and with some strategic missed tests can allow you to dope and never fail a test) Missing even 1 test let alone 3 is a bigger offence than taking coke yet even when convicted gets you less of a ban
