Very tight first set for Hev there. Good effort against a very solid grass courter. Frustrating not to be able to watch but she seems to be playing well.

Jo leaking errors off the forehand and retreating into herself a bit

She manages to break back at the start of the second after Yanina gets a bit loose, but then misses game points and is broken in a long game.

Can't really comment on her performance but looks a decent effort. She looked great against Giorgi the other day so hopefully signs things are working nicely for the big one.

Jo out 6-3 6-3

Jo's last 3 losses have been quite disappointing, it's a bit re-wind to 18 months ago stuff. The confidence, solidity, bounce, just isn't there. Patches of absolute brilliance today, but lots of soft errors costing her dear. Feeling the pressure maybe, or just having a bit of a dip. Fingers crossed the south coast air and a few nights in her own bed revitalises her!

Wickmayer played well, but got a lot of balls that made it easy for her to tee-off.

If it wasn't her home event a week off for Jo to re-charge and re-set wouldn't be a bad thing.

Jo played straight into Yanina's hands. No variety and just trying to out hit her. It didn't work. Where was the slice, drop shot, change of pace?

Disappointing results for Jo and Heather, but with this event backed up due to the weather, at least they avoided playing multiple singles matches on the same day.
