You could have inked in 6 of the 7 that got WCs ( Tara, Laura, Katie S, Katy D, Freya and Gabi ).
Then as I said before, to me you were looking at Harriet, Lisa, Sam and Katie B.
So Harriet is the one, maybe a bit luckily, that got out of my second bunch and the others I imagine were at least in the discussion.
And for the moment 3 into 2 doesn't go from the play-offs, and as mentioned elsewhere the play-off draw could scupper someone even before the SF which might offer a spare place.

Won't be 3 now with Sam progressing at Ilkley. And she can take up the spare Q WC and sorted.
Mostly justifiable decisions apart from Melnikova, which totally undermines the idea of merit behind them. A rather average, relatively old player who hasn't had a spectacular career or done much of note until Surbiton.
I am a huge Russophile but I can think of dozens of players who I'd hand a wildcard to before Marina.
I guess that Laura getting a MD WC was always on the cards. With the way she's been playing I'm not sure it's deserved, but there you go.
I'm glad Tara and Katie S have got them. Is this Katie's first MD? Good exposure early to get her used to the environment for later years if so.
I'm surprised and disappointed that Ashleigh hasn't got a MD WC. I would have thought that she would be more deserving than most, and a crowd pleaser. To say nothing of the level she's been playing at recently - a real contender to go a few rounds. I'm glad she's got one for dubs with Laura.

Yes Barty would have been much more deserving than Meinikova, no disrespect to the latter.
Assuming Amanda is out of the equation, the leading 10 in ranking order ( and so guaranteed play-off places if they want them and are fit and available, which some are clearly not ) after Harriet are :
Lisa Emily W-S Katie B Mirabelle Emily Arb Sam Fran S Manisha Maia Emily App
Now some of these have little to no chance of being in place tomorrow and the next ones in order ( with the first few at least going to be in ) are :
Sarah Beth Laura D Lucy Jazzamay Anna B Emma H Naomi Cav Jovana
Aimee
Eden S

Manisha seems to be injured so one I assume will not be participating, and Mirabelle and Fran S seem out of it too at least. Fran is still competing in Slovakia and Mirabelle hasn't yet played in the UK.
I'm sorry Mandy ignored the grass season altogether this year after her brief but successful foray last year. She seems to be playing better at the moment than last year, so could have been interesting, but she has obviously decided it will be disruptive rather than progressive for her season. However, given the ranking she's got to within the top 300, to restrict her game essentially to one surface I think is a pity. Maybe she will play some hard court tennis later in the year.

We're past the withdrawal deadline for next week's ITF tournaments and I know a few of the girls are already down to play. I wonder whether that means they won't be in the play-offs. Does anyone know what the rules are in that case? Although they may be out of tournaments this week and would therefore be free to play in the play-offs, I can't see they'd be able to take up a place in the qualies if they were successful. Maybe one of the resident experts can put me right. :)
Amanda Carreras - Perigueux $25k
Mirabelle Njoze - Sharm $10k
Fran Stephenson - Maribor $10k
Sarah-Beth Grey - Cantanhede $10k
Jazzy Drew - Cantanhede $10k
Eden Silva - Cantanhede $10k
Sabrina Bamburac - Sharm $10k
Dominique Covington - Cantanhede $10k
By the way, from what I can see of the rules Aimee Gibson and Holly Hutchinson will both be guarantee play-off wild cards.

Fairly certain the play offs are seen as a separate entity so those who play can still then play these tournaments thereafter.

I hope Sam and Lisa are eventually recognised.
It seems unfair to complain about the wildcard to Melnikova.
The rules are clear - the winner of that tournament gets a wildcard.
We can't then say 'oops, we don't like who won, change the rules'.
