Gutting. A poor loss in two tiebreaks 7-6(3) 7-6(2)
Sacrificing singles to have a go at doubles here was a gamble that really should have paid off with that draw. An extra sore one having had set points in each set at 6-5, both after having to come from a break behind. First set in particular it looked like they had got some momentum going saving two set points to go up *6-5 40-15, to lose that game really was a killer.
Very, very, frustrating. A match that could easily have gone their way. I had hoped this team re-uniting could spark something but not to be on the day. Perhaps it is an indication they might try for a Wimbledon wildcard? Although would they get it? Will Em follow Nao to Mallorca next week? Interesting one.

There is no way in he World that Emily merits a doubles Wild Card. Sorry but that is ridiculous. Having said that Wimbledon is the most elitist of Grand Slams so jobs for the boys might apply.

I don't think Emily is one who has really ever generally benefitted from being in the in crowd of boys or girls.
And while I have my more general thoughts on Slam MD WCs, in the WC world we realistically have it is surely far from "ridiculous" to mention a player ranked about 150 in the world with potentially a good partner in Hibino.
Wish she'd get a couple more wins or so and say also get up to GB 3 or 4 ( will be #6 on Monday but not really far behind any Brit other than Jossanna in ranking terms - granted Naomi, Heather and Jo play doubles much less frequently ) and that might make folk think more.
Not saying aye or nae, am saying it's not ridiculous.
