Interesting and very impressive by Sam.

After expressing my doubts as to Sam even getting a Wimbledon Q WC ( essentially based on there probably being, and now confirmed, a max 8 initial British ( MD + Q ) WCs ) this rather puts the cat among the pigeons. As does the announced LTA WC recommendation criteria alluding to injuries and recent form.

Gabi I would think will be in for a Q WC but Sam now making a big case for one of the probably few places realistically left to decide beyond the shoo-ins.

If Sam won the tournament and the way she's playing looking at who is left she has a small chance does that mean a full MDWC?

Yes (50K winners in the three challengers get a WC if they have not automatically qualified)- but it is a big ask
