I originally had Emily Appleton in my top ten list for the year end but then took her out on account of having limited opportunity in view of her age. But if she keeps doing well in $50K events I may come to regret that decision.

She seems to be focusing on junior events with success, so I suspect you made the correct decision.
Super match. Really close, right through the first set. And then Sam (barring one point) played a horrid tie-break. But managed to keep going. Didn't see the fightback at the end of the second but saw most of the third. Her opponent helped by serving a clutch of dodge double-faults. But Sam really went for it. And deserved it.
NB She's looking very toned, and 'cut'. Could be used for the anatomy exam for first-year med students. Proof that you can do a LOT of gym work even when otherwise injured.
And I liked her coach (South African accent? Possibly Dave Sammel ???) - a good combination of encouragement, advice AND silence when called for.
Emily Appleton also was great. Well done, that kid !!!
Her serve has come on amazingly, and she really takes on the ball, tries to make a statement out there.
And it's SO good to see a young player with a natural instinct for closing down the net when she has her opponent in trouble. It's such an easy play if (repeat IF) you see it naturally, but difficult to teach. And she does it a treat.
Stevenson obviously plays more classically at the net, and hit some beauties, as well as her power shots, but even little Ola had exposed some of her weaknesses, now at this age, and Emily App did the job even better.
It was a super grass court tennis match, well worthy of being on centre court. With a lot of support (led by Dad )
Excellent work by Ms Appleton and Ms Murray (and I'd be an advocate for a QWC for Ms Murray - injury out justifies current low ranking + fine comeback so far seem to suggest it wouldn't go amiss)
