Quite probably.

The only 'Raven' I've ever known was a little girl - American, of course - who was Ray-ven, as in the bird.

With Dutch (South-African) vowels, Rar-ven would be more likely.

But still a great name. And he could always anglicise it if he wanted.

I gather it's quite popular as a girl's name in taste-free Yankee-land. I think it's a perfectly ghastly name & would never have saddled any daughter of mine with it! Still, chacun à son goût, I suppose...

Her sister was Robin (which is a fair bit more understandable but you see that there's a pattern there.....).

Lord knows was they would have called a third child : Redwing? Rock Pigeon? Ringed Plover ?
