Gabriela Dabrowski 7-6(1) 3-2* [WC] Eden Silva GBR
One relative positive for Laura with that draw is that Konjuh is currently playing the Bol semifinal on clay...so may well not have a great deal of time to adjust to the grass.
Hev gets good grass courter but out if form Rybarikova.
Naomi gets Hseih
Laura gets last years winner Konjuh
Freya gets Zheng. A really good draw for her first WTA main draw
Jo will play Duval who is coming back from cancer treatment. Plays winner of Freyas match if she comes through.
Thanks for that Paul
Some decent R1s there; here's hoping Jo and Freya get to meet...but maybe Laura should've gone to Surbiton!
This looks like a pretty good draw. Laura has the toughest draw with Konjuh being defending champion but even so that's probably no worse than an average draw given the field.
Edit: Konjuh has just retired from her match so Laura might well be playing a lucky loser instead.
Overall the first round draw doesn't look much tougher for the Brits than the $50k draw at Eastbourne last week.
Hopefully we will see Tara in the main draw too - another excellent win for her (if almost expected after last week!)

A little of what I saw today :
Lisa: great to see her back injury free, got going in the 2nd, but couldn't quite get on top of her opponent, she fought until the end, and if she could have been able to win a few more of the longer rallies, I fancy she could have got back into this. Not her best day, but definitely evidence that her 'A' game is not too far away.
Tara: definitely in better shape, certainly the best I've seen her for 2/3 years. Serve much more consistent, and her forehand and backhand slice had her opponent tied up in knots by the end of the match. You feel she can go toe to toe in the longer rallies, without lacking fitness, great to see.
Eden : only watched a couple of games, but she does look like a player, weakish serve, but all other aspects of her game offer lots of encouragement for the future, physically looks strong as well.
Special mention for Yorkshire born lass, Naiktha Bains, who is basically playing her by accident having being inadvertently withdrawn from Surbiton, played great today against Conny Perrin for the win.
Also wanted to catch a bit of Ash Barty, but her match was over in a blink of an eye, so missed the lot.
