Week 23 - WTA International ($250K) - Nottingham, UK - Grass

Tara will be on soon, and I am right in thinking that Riske and Kontaveit are finishing their match on a different court to the one they started on ?

Yes, that does seem to be the case. They were definitely on Centre for the part of their match they completed yesterday

Tara under way.

That seems a bit tough for them, and maybe if a Brit had been in that position then others might have been moved instead .......

Extensive treatment to her serving elbow.

Tara playing much better in the second set, much more like the last round. She was a bit passive in the first set. Had a chance to level it up, but Zheng has played very well generally, and faced it down.
2-6 4-5*

Meanwhile, Naomi & Anastasija are being outplayed i most departments in their SF 4-6 0-3*

Zheng closes it out with a lovely controlled stop-volley at the net. 2-6 4-6

Tara got off quick still clutching her elbow, as she did occasionally throughout. Hopefully it can be tended to in time for Birmingham, and maybe take Eastbourne week off, she'll be fit enough for Wimbledon to do herself justice.
Career best week, well done Tara

If the elbow is sore, I'd take Birmingham off and play Eastbourne instead. Give it time to rest but keep the momentum of match play into Wimbledon.

Watching Tara/Roger and the football at the same time mainly watched Tara and was thinking that losing perhaps a blessing after playing 6 matches and the arm injury she kept straightening it out. Some rest before Birmingham it ll probably be Tuesday til she plays. I think she'd be better playing Birmingham and missing Eastbourne personally.

Tara has played a lot of matches recently. Combine that and the elbow if it remains troublesome ( and even Tuesday isn't far away ) and it would certainly seem better to take Birmingham off .

Don't take undue risks.

If she is going to get a Wimbledon Wild Card which you've got to assume she will get maybe even miss both tournaments.

Be good as LordBrownof says to get match play at Eastbourne ( I assume she will get some sort of WC if she wants it ), leading into Wimbledon if the elbow is fine.

I would imagine she will get a Wimbledon MD WC but clearly we are just speculating for now.
