Not only is she playing well, she looks perfectly at home at this level. I think (hope) she may have finally realised just how good she actually could be.
I don't think Tara's problem has ever been realising how good she could be !!
I last saw Tara at Shrewsbury at the end of last year. What a difference 6 months makes.
A lot more confident, not distracted by spectators/mates. Taken a bit of the serve, which seems to be working. The forehand is still a big weapon, but it is more consistent now and the backhand in particular the slice is much improved and very effective.
Tara will win this comfortably and will give other WTA players plenty to think about. Currently playing top 80 tennis.
That was a mega impressive performance. Great in all areas.
Touch wood, but I'd give her a good shot against Zheng too. While she beat Freya and Jo, the former was playing her maiden WTA draw match and the latter was injured and in dodgy form...neither of which applies to Tara.
Tara was ridiculously good in that 2nd set. Her forehand was sensational. Missed a couple of routine backhands on what seemed to be crucial points but still managed to get the break in that game.
