Pity Heather is carrying an injury; hope she can be ready for Wimby :)
Tara's great result really emphasised, methinks, the merits of battling through qualies to be match ready for the MD.
Laura, are you listening?
Though Tara not at all short of matches having reached the Eastbourne final and then rushed onto Surbiton qualies the next day. She''ll no doubt welcome today's break.
There's a happy medium; Tara definitely not under-cooked at the moment! She merits a WC or two now :)
Laura is way under-cooked by reason of losing so many R1s; a few wins (if she can muster them) in qualies might enable her to convert some of those R1s into wins too.
Yes, I noticed that Laura now had her full quota of 16 ranking counters and couldn't add her last point.
But she remains very short of matches with how she has used her PR and WCs then lost so many R1 matches.
Phil was saying that she looked very good in practice but no doubt nothing beats matches for improving matches.
No doubt in her 'stategy' she didn't expect to lose so many R1 matches, and move quicker up the rankings, but some ( not all ! ) have been very tough asks.
She may have not much choice soon and I get the impression she'd prefer to take part in qualifying to even further reduce her tournament level.

Naomi looks far more combobulated today - the bounce is back in her step. Sevastova is a good, very calm, partner who has shown great hands at times in and around the net.
They clinch the second set to earn the MTB.
Special mention to Aoyama who has played some pretty amazing points so far.
3-6 6-2
Naomi start against VOracova, switches to Aoyama, drills two balls right at her, and the Japanese can't control the second
MP #3
Naomi at the net kills it and we have a winner
3-6 6-2 [11-9]
