Tara wins 6-2, 7-5, her first WTA MD win since 2012, (possibly).

A cumulative points score of 48 and counting for this week, following 48 last week - which is top 100 form.

Now P9, W8, L1 on grass; and as the lower-ranked player in almost all of those matches.

Dodgy liverankings now has her on 197 points=WR246=.

Will play McHale in R2.

Super again from Tara.

After this week just 20 points to defend before October. That's from Wimbledon qualifying last year and it increasingly looks like she will have at least 10 points this Wimbledon from a MD WC.

US Open qualifying looks very possible if not indeed probable the way she's going, since she can't need too much more.

It's all going rather well

To be fair national coverage has been quite good. BBC radio 5 live have been covering, mainly focusing on Jo, but Freya got a good mention yesterday until she was losing and all the girls including Tara playing today got mentions in the early sports bulletins.

 Yes for the men, but the women WCs get full R1 points.

I am going on Friday (quarter finals) and Tara wasn't on my radar as one of the players I was hoping to watch but she is now....

Further encouragement for Tara, as Riske disposes of 7th seed Barthel for the loss of 3 games. Only Tara and Barty have given Riske a close match so far. Tara took the only set she's lost, and held 2 MPs in the second set of their final.
