Another good win for Tara. It's a toss up between her and Ashleigh Barty as to who is the qualifier everyone wants to avoid.

Jo meanwhile has started terribly. All over the place, footwork very poor in the early exchanges and not hitting clean.

Duval, who hasn't played since the Australian Open, double faults on game point, and then break point, to let Jo on the board.

Tara was super.
That's the first time Tara has ever come through WTA (or GS) level qualifying, in 11 attempts, and she did so entirely on her own merits. Made Q by right, and won through.

Jo has broken for 4-3

To be fair to both, Duval did start off by hitting a lot of shots within 3 inches of the lines

Jo settles down and Duval can't sustain her early high level, and Jo comes through the first set 6-3.

I don't want her to win this one, but it's wonderful to see Vicky back on court. Great kid.

 Yes, good all round in that it's great to see Vicky Duval back playing, but at the same time is a very kind draw for Jo's first match on grass.
