Not to be for Beth, who lost 6-3, 3-6, 2-6

Considering that when Barty left off, she was a multiple GS doubles finalist, who was WR12 for doubles at the age of 17, that is a fantastic scoreline for Beth to post, from which she should gain a lot of confidence.

Beth has matched her feat from last year so she gains 3 points as last year's 3 points drop off

Pity but good couple of days from Beth and looks good scoreline vs Ashleigh without knowing her standard at this stage.

Beth will rejoin the GB top 25, along with Emily Appleton, as Cav voluntarily finally drops out and also Anna Brogan ( injured ? )

Zhang 1-3 lifetime on grass.
Duan 4-2 lifetime on grass (she made it through qualifying to R64 last year at SW19)

The entry list for this tournament is pretty much all in the large rankings gap between GB No.3 & 4, so British entries are limited to wildcards.

Given a pretty strong field, and the fact that anyone playing on grass in this week is doing so out of choice rather than necessity, there were not that many great draws out there. Even so, it could have been a lot better for the Brits than it is.

Laura has yet to beat Daniela Hantuchova in three attempts, two on grass, but maybe now is the time 7 years after her first attempt.

Surely this is Laura's chance to win Daniela is dropping in the rankings

Though she did just qualify for the French Open, so evidently is in better form that Laura, still.

Tara played a singles and a doubles today in France, and will be legging it home at full speed......

I assume she played on clay today (as it was an away match and the club is listed as having 3 outdoor clay courts and 2 indoor resin ones)

Hope she gets to hit a couple of balls on grass before she starts tomorrow....
